Etiology and diagnosis of elbow dysplasias

Elbow dysplasias include clinical and radiological diagnosis of ununited anconeal process, osteochondritis dissecans, fragmented coronoid process and incongruity of elbow joints in dogs. These entities have all lameness in common but all differ from their clinical and radiological presentation.
Screening for elbow dysplasia

Examples are given of a fruitful screening programm with the aim to reduce the incidence of elbow dysplasia in dog populations. The importance of a uniform and transparant system will be emphasized.
The clinical relevance of elbow denervation in pain management

Arthrotomy and arthroscopy of the canine elbow joint
Dr. Ross H. Palmer, DVM, MS, dipl. ACVS
The lateral approach for the UAP, the medial approach for FCP and OCD will be demonstrated as well as the minimal approaches for the use of arthroscopy. In addition, surgical techniques will be discussed.

Examples of radiographs will be discussed and graded according to the system of the International Elbow Working Group. Participants will be able to use the system at the end of the meeting. Both for applying the knowledge in the daily practice as for understanding the importance of views in different directions, the film reading session is a valuable of this congress. Participants are invited to bring their own cases of elbow dysplasia for plenary discussion.
