ACVS Abstract 2007

Concurrent medial patellar luxation (MPL) and cranial cruciate ligament disease (CCLD) is recognised. We hypothesised that simultaneous transposition and advancement of the tibial tuberosity would unify treatment for both conditions and improve reliability of outcome by three-dimensional tibial tuberosity manipulation.

Linear external skeletal fixation (lesf) for partial tarsal arthrodesis (parta) in 12 dogs

ACVS Abstract 2007

Traumatic and degenerative injuries of the canine tarsus are common. Arthrodesis may be required for pain-free function. We proposed that partial tarsal arthrodesis (PARTA) could be achieved by linear external skeletal fixation (LESF) irrespective of injury configuration via a limited approach and minimising complications associated with concomitant injuries. Clinical and radiographic records of dogs undergoing PARTA by LESF were reviewed.

ACVS Abstract 2007

Surgical intervention for antebrachial growth deformity aims to establish functional limb axis and limit elbow or carpal pathology. 15 antebrachii (13 dogs) were operated. Mean age 9.2 months. Single transverse radial osteotomy at the deformity apex and oblique proximal ulnar osteotomy were performed with acute realignment referenced from the frontal plane of the humero-radial joint.

Bipartite radial carpal bone repair in two dogs using a cannulated headless variable-pitched compression screw

NM Fitzpatrick, KL Perry.
Fitzpatrick Referrals, Farnham, United Kingdom

ACVS Abstract 2007

The canine radial carpal bone has 3 centres of ossification. Radial carpal fracture has been documented through the fusion planes. Predilection in the Boxer breed and documentation of incomplete radial carpal fracture is consistent with aetiopathogenesis of incomplete ossification. This report documents diagnosis and treatment of bipartite radial carpal bone in 2 dogs.  (1) 5y11m Labrador cross with left thoracic limb lameness and pain on carpal manipulation.
