Fracture Fixation and Implants

Minimally invasive osteosynthesis can be a valid alternative to open reduction and internal fixation
Early postoperative and long-term results seem to be favourable using a mini circular transarticular external fixation system
It should be considered a clinical disease distinct from dysplasia-related fragmentation
If using supplemental half-pins as fixation elements, insertion of 2 or 3 pins is preferred over a single pin
The single locking plate combined with an alveolar miniplate construct was mechanically stronger than the single locking plate construct but may not be clinically justifiable
The LC-DCP-R showed higher stiffness and resistance to failure, lower interfragmentary motion, and lower plate strain and stress compared to LCP
Fracture of the central tarsal bone is an uncommon injury in dogs and seems not to have been described previously in cats.
